ATLAS by SYGNS

ATLAS is a free astronomy tool by SYGNS (Denmark+Winter Entertainment) that reconstructs the exact sky over your birthplace at the moment you were born. It combines real astronomical data, the Swiss Ephemeris for planetary positions, the US Naval Observatory for lunar data, and the HYG Star Catalog (Hipparcos, Yale, Gliese) for star positions, with plain language readings so anyone can understand their birth chart without prior astrology knowledge.
ATLAS has five modules: Birth Star, Natal Chart, Lunario, Skylines, and Canopée. Each one looks at a different part of the sky on your birth date and location.
Birth Star
Birth Star shows the star whose light left its surface the year you were born, the light you would be seeing if you looked at that star tonight, calculated from your birth year. It gives a short, personal entry point into ATLAS before moving into the deeper modules.
Natal Chart
The Natal Chart module generates a full astrological birth chart using the Swiss Ephemeris, the same astronomical calculation engine used in professional and academic astrology software. It plots the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, and the outer planets into your twelve houses, along with angles and points: Ascendant, Midheaven (MC), Imum Coeli (IC), Vertex, Anti-Vertex, Lilith (Black Moon), Chiron, North Node, South Node, and Part of Fortune. Each placement has a written interpretation covering what the planet or point represents, what it means in that sign, and a synthesized reading for the person’s specific chart. Aspects (trine, square, opposition, sextile, conjunction) are shown visually on the chart wheel. The chart and every element on the page are fully interactive, and each individual placement has its own shareable card.
Lunario
Lunario shows the moon phase on the exact night a person was born, calculated from US Naval Observatory data, including illumination percentage (for example, Waning Gibbous, 87% illuminated). It includes a full moon calendar for the person’s birth year, and a “moon today” feature that reads the current moon phase against the person’s own natal placements (Sun, Moon, and Rising sign), so the interpretation is specific to that individual rather than generic. The current moon position also generates a downloadable card with a new reading each day on how that day’s moon positioning affects the person and their chart.
Skylines
Skylines is ATLAS’s astrocartography module. It maps how each planet’s influence falls across different lines of longitude and latitude on Earth at the moment of birth, showing where in the world a person’s Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto lines fall on the Midheaven (MC) or Descendant (DSC). Users can explore a “Your Cities” list of relevant locations (for example Prague, Vienna, Berlin) with the specific planetary lines running through each one, plus a distance from the user’s current location and a written reading of what that city draws out in them.
Canopée
Canopée is ATLAS’s interactive whole-sky map. It renders the entire sky as it appeared on a person’s exact birth date and time as a navigable 3D dome that can be dragged, zoomed, and explored star by star. It is built from the HYG Star Catalog, which combines data from the Hipparcos, Yale Bright Star, and Gliese catalogs. Tapping any star, planet, or constellation in the dome opens a beautiful explanation of what it is.
